Meet the Artist
Greetings - I’m Dani, the artist behind Dead Air Doodles! I started my art venture in 2023, when I decided randomly one day that I thought I would be decent at watercolor painting.
Crafts and artwork are nothing new to me – from a young age, my favorite activity was toddling along with my grandmother to the closest JoAnn’s (RIP) and going absolutely ham in the crafts section. Over the years, that love came in handy for endless crafting in my sorority, home decor projects, and even a jewelry business I ran in the mid-2010s. With all that crafting in my arsenal, I felt pretty confident I would knock watercolor painting out of the park.
While my earliest work wasn’t museum-quality, I was floored by how much I loved the medium. I can be an impatient artist, which made watercolor perfect for me. Water was both my pencil and the eraser; I could easily adjust the painting if I wasn’t 100% satisfied with the look.

My very first attempt at a watercolor painting!
Later in 2024, I was gifted an iPad Pro to try my hand at digital artwork. I quickly picked up the intricacies of Procreate, which is now filled with dozens of my kitschy little doodles and drawings.
In 2024, I also picked up two other new hobbies – houseplants, and higher education! I started getting my Masters degree at Kennesaw State University (Hooty Hoo!) and picked up some new houseplants. To destress from the grind of working full time and going back to school full time, I began adding to my personal art collection at a breakneck pace – often using my new plants as inspiration.
After much insistence from my friends and family (and sifting through my growing pile of paintings) I decided I wanted to share my art beyond my inner circle. With the help of some friends, I came up with the perfect name for my little business – Dead Air Doodles, named for my love of my full-time job as a broadcast journalist. When there’s dead air, I’m making art!
Through my art, I want to brighten people’s lives with color and whimsy. I doodle what I love – I hope you love it too.
